The airline on Wednesday laid off some senior cabin crew members who ‘reported sick’ causing flight disruptions

While Air India Express continued to suffer flight cancellations 24 hours after the crisis began and said in a new statement that it was making efforts to mitigate the situation, it terminated the contract of some senior cabin crew members who “reported sick” a day ago.

PTI reported that at least 25 senior crew members were terminated from the service, although no information has been provided on the number of employees served with termination notices by the airlines. It has been reported, however, that up to 30 employees could be laid off, according to other publications.

According to a letter of termination sent by the airline to one of its employees, a large number of airline crew members reported being sick at the last minute. “This clearly demonstrates a concerted and premeditated abstention from work without any justifiable reason,” the letter read.

A large number of flights were cancelled as a result of the actions of crew members, according to Air India Express, which affected the airline’s schedule and caused passenger inconvenience. Therefore, the contracts of the concerned employees were terminated immediately.

“Your act has caused the company embarrassment, severe reputational damage, and serious monetary losses,” the company stated in the termination letter.

TODAY, AIR INDIA EXPRESS WILL OPERATE 292 FLIGHTS

According to an Air India Express spokesperson, the company will operate 292 flights on Thursday with the help of Air India, but 74 flights will be canceled.

“Air India Express is doing everything possible to minimise the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected situation,” the spokesperson said. We will operate 292 flights today. Air India will be operating on 20 of our routes to support us,” the spokesperson said.
